A language model I pretrained from scratch, with my own tokenizer and data mix. Mantis-50M-Base is #1 in the under-50M class of the Open SLM Leaderboard, with an Intelligence Index of 18.36, after it passed the maintainers' hidden test sets. A second version trained on more of my synthetic arithmetic data scored 30.05 with the board's eval tools, but on 232 held-out word problems it only gets 31 to 41% (chance is 25%). So I didn't submit it, and the model card says so. It continues text. It's not a chatbot.
